Girls Rule the Day …

Washington, DC –

There are two things to consider while playing the IRS:

1) Don’t win too big (You don’t want any unexpected Audits)
2) Have fun, because they won’t.

The first one wasn’t a problem. The 1040 Slashers gave 2DM an old fashion can of Whip-Ass. The game started out pretty even. After the first inning the score was only 2-3. That would be closest we would get for the rest of the game. The IRS decided to go Audit on our butts, and rack up runs by the handful.

Sometimes a bad loss can teach you a lot about your team. When we were down double digits, 2DM turned to what we do best, have fun.

Jack, the new star left field, almost made the greatest play in the history of slow pitch Softball on a ball crushed way over his head. In the end, it seemed he that he might of made the worst play ever in slow pitch softball. We were glad to laugh it off.

The new guys Matt and Joe earned their 2DM cups by pounding homeruns. AJ, Rick and Brian played strong at their respective positions.

Although the guys did their best, this game went to the girls. As 2DM were down several runs, we decided to try a new tactic. Let Lisa play short! The move was not only Genius, but also it shut down the IRS for the rest of the game (Give or take a run or two due to a ball going over somebody’s head in left field).

The girls playing the infield made 2DM look like a team. Lisa and Donna resembled Alomar and Vizquel of the mid 90’s. Audrey and Steph played the catcher position as it was intended, while Alison and Kim showcased their athletic ability.

The girls also hit the ball the best I have seen in my two years. Every single ball they hit was crushed. Denae, Lisa (Won Game MVP), Donna….the list doesn’t stop. Too bad most of those hits were right at the people. Otherwise this game might of come out differently.

Yes, we did get rocked in the end. I always feel you go into the season where you are going to win one game no matter what, and lose one game no matter what. The girls hit the ball the best all season but yet still making outs, the IRS was hitting every pitch into the gap, and we couldn’t even finish the beer! This game was that “one loss”.
(I leave nicknames up to Rick)

There are 2 guys on my team who typically do the write ups. This is not one of them. And it's not shocking that he gave the girls so much attention... he's hit on all of us.
