About last night...
Last night was just odd. I mean, just full of surprises, irony, and the like.
It started off in the afternoon. A few coworkers and I had to go to the Army-Navy Country Club to run the registration desk at an event - Operation Jump Start - to help the soldiers of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom transition to civilian careers. Because our part was just registration, the events of the evening weren't really revealed to us until we arrived. We noticed that there was a guest speaker on the agenda, 8:00. An actor from the TV series Boston Legal. I'd heard of this show, have never seen, and couldn't swear, if asked, if it was even still on.
Just before 7:00, HE walked in. I was star struck... I recognized him. As a former fan of Days of Our Lives I knew him as the better looking Jack Deveraux. Mark Valley.

Yes, he's this hot in person.
One of my coworkers, another former Days fan, and I kept a watchful eye on him most of the night. Another volunteer, Jeremy (note name, save for later), was also interested in observing. Yes, Jeremy. Yes, I met another gay man. Yes, we got along fabulously. Yes, we exchanged business cards and have already emailed today. My boss (she gets mad when I call her this as we are friends, too, so I like to say boss - lol) asked me jokingly at the end of the night as we were packing up, "What is it with you?" I said, "I just don't know... I can't explain it."
After Mark addressed the crowd, the party was pretty much over. Jeremy and I moved in. Mark wasn't getting out of there without meeting us. We were patient. And finally we had him all to ourselves. We shook his hand, introduced ourselves, and engaged in small talk. He's not only hot, but nice!
On my way to my next stop, IOTA to see Scythian, I called my sister to tell her about the meeting. She tells me that he's from Ogdensburg, NY. WTF? That's a couple hours north of Syracuse, but a place I've actually been. I could have added that to the small talk! Curses for not knowing!
So Scythian at IOTA. I was meeting a couple of friends (one who was 95% sure he'd make it, but is known to let the 5% wild card take over - shocked when he showed), neither had seen Scythian before. I was tired, but ready to enjoy a couple of sets from them and not get home until very late. Much to my surprise, they only played 90 minutes. Again, WTF? While there though, I ran in to a friend of a friend. And I thought Tully was a small town!
And we're on to my third and final destination... an unplanned one, really. Since I figured I'd be at IOTA until near closing, I said "doubtful" to a friend who said to drop by while she was cocktail waitressing at the Whale. That didn't happen, so I dropped by on my way home. And here's where deja vu hit. Oh wait, it wasn't the feeling like it had happened before... it was the fact that it actually had happened before.
A few weeks ago, at one of our catch up sessions at the Whale, a friend and I were interrupted by a guy buying us a drink and then talking to us. Jeremy. No, not the same as above, but the same name. I was sitting at the bar last night and I see Jeremy there. I wasn't in the mood to chat with him again as the conversation was strained at best. I avoided eye contact at all costs, but he struck anyway. Struck up a convo, tried to buy me a drink, and introduced himself to me. I thought, "OMG, are you kidding?" He didn't even remember me and I heard the same stories and comments as I had a few weeks ago. I just didn't have the energy or the heart to tell him.
Wild, wacky stuff.

Here's another tidbit in case you meet Mark Valley again - Jim's uncle is famous in Ogdensburg. He's the artist that's furnished our whole house with awesome paintings. ;-) Congrats on all your brushes with fame lately.
